Which is your dominant sense?
I dont have one in particular. I like to spend each new week focusing on a certain sense and enveloping myself in it. Its a trick I use to engage my inner being in the NOW.
This week it is touch......what a lovely sense this is.
I find myself running my hands through water, letting sand slip through my fingers.....pressing my lips on another cheak, hand or mouth. I hug nearly every one I know or anyone who will allow me to upon meeting. I run my fingers through my dogs hair and watch as he gets so excited seeing that he is an equally enlightened being also basking in the sense of touch.....
I relax my tired body in a nice hot bath, feeling goose bumps raise up all over my little body as I first enter the hot water. After I get out of my bath I rub lotion all over my body and feel my skin drink up the moisture. I press my hands and feet a little deeper then normal into my yoga mat allowing the earths energy to allow my limbs to sinc even deeper into the pose. I let my hand hang out the window while Im driving and allow the wind to breeze itself past my fingertips. Next week will be taste.....this one is also quite a bit of fun :o)

Help

That's great Jung Girl! I try to be in touch with all my senses as well. It really helps you appreciate life more that way. Thanks for sharing about this.
What an absolutely fascinating practice, Jung Girl! I love the way you described your touch week. Please post a follow up comment after/during next week! :)
The body we inhabit is absolutely amazing…..by turning inward and focusing our attention on our senses we release serotonin and endorphins in our body that keep us happy, young vibrant and alive. The act of breathing in and filling your lungs up alone can bring you to a place of completeness and joy….try it out.
I love your post Jung Lady. I think one of the amazing things about the practice of yoga is the relationship of feeling and movement and if you can begin the feel a part of your body then you can begin to move it as well. The inverse is also true, move it to feel it. I am also convinced that the same applies to our relatedness to each other, to animals, to trees, to our world, universe. When we move our feeling outward from our bodies then we begin to move our world.
Yes, I agree- focusing our attention inwards, in a loving way, affects our inner world, which indirectly affects our outer world. And focusing our attention outwards in a loving way, does affect our world, very much so. I believe, and have experienced that as well. The key is, for it to be in a loving, non-judgmental way.
Hmmm great questions and insights… for me it would be a sublte form of touch… what I sense the most is the air in my lungs, blood in my veins, and general warmth / energy that is being emitted from me and how my body is moving it around.
You know what I mean? That 'invisible' energy feeling you've had since a kid? :D
